The True Gentlemen’s Club

The Rochester Institute of Technology's True Gentlemen's Club began with an idea by Anatoly Shilman in mid-September of 2001. He told this idea to two trusted friends, Aaron Guhin and Ken Kanashiro. With the idea of forming a brotherhood, the three young men, being only sophomores in their college careers, set out to recruit new members. In the very early days of TGC there was no clear mission statement. The main idea that the 3 members focused on was building the numbers needed to become a well organized club. At first the members would go to their own closest friends and asked them to join the club. This was about the time that a new concept was being formed: Dorm Storming. Anatoly and Ken would go out to the on campus dorms and talk to people. They had it figured out that Anatoly (a.k.a. Mouth) was the “salesman” of sorts with an unrefusable pitch and Ken was the wingman, there for backup. Within 3 weeks TGC had 10 members and a million ideas.
